Quick and Easy Wireless Expander
Gone are the days when ugly cables had to connect computers to a modem or router. Computer use is no longer restricted to a specific place. Connections are now a little easy on the eyes with the use of routers and wireless range expanders. A range expander setup is quite easy to do.
The modem and the router have to be set in place before adding the wireless range expander. The expander does not have to be connected to the router; it has to be just put in a location which is in the range of the router. Most expanders, however, especially Linksys, require that software called firmware version be installed before it will work. You may also need to update the firmware.
Configuring the Wireless Range Expander
The expander’s graphical user interface has to be accessed by the software for configuration purposes. This can be accessed by connecting the device thru an Ethernet cable. When the range expander’s setup page opens, wireless access information has to be entered, such as wireless SID, security type and security key. Setup instructions can usually be found in the product manual or on the manufacturer’s website. If you need walk-through help, most manufacturers have 24/7 technical support call centers open to guide a customer through the installation process.
There are other products in the market that are both wireless routers and wireless repeaters in one. The setup is extremely easy because of the fact that there is only one device to configure and connect. Once everything is set up in place, you will have a strong wireless network connection.
